Claire Mallison - Cake Designer and Decorator.

Claire was born in Devon and, with a history of bread making and bakery in the family (Claire's aunt and uncle owned a bakery in the picturesque village of Kingsand in Cornwall) Claire decided to study Bakery and Confectionery at college in Plymouth.

After completing her City & Guilds certificate and gaining a distinction in Cake Design & Decoration, Claire worked as a Cake Decorator in Australia for three years learning the sugar paste art that is now so popular in the UK and winning awards in design and decoration. This included making sugar paste flowers to match the brides bouquet for wedding cakes and the novelty cakes that are the centrepiece of any great party.

When Claire returned to England, she joined the famous Gloriette Patisserie in Knightsbridge, London, supplying cakes to Harrods for the rich and famous, including Sir Bob Geldof, Margaret Thatcher, Stephanie Powers and Kevin Keegan.

Since leaving Gloriette, Claire has run her own business and started a family, her sons Sam and Luke being the envy of their friends at every birthday party. She still makes cakes for celebrities and most of her commissions come from regular customers and recommendations being her best advertisement!
